The Mysterious Ladies and Other Stories

The Mysterious Ladies and Other Stories is the author’s third collection of short stories; the previous ones being: Tell A Tale and Other Stories and Invisible Poet and Other Stories. In this collection, the author presents satires, anecdotes, and ‘people’ stories. Some are bite-sized stories, to which the author is partial, and a few others are longer. But the author hopes that all the stories may tickle and entertain the readers.
The title story is about the search for two mysterious ladies four decades after the incident in which they were involved, with an adorable Mrs. Marple known for her razor-sharp intellect and boundless zeal leading the investigation. In spite of the passage of time, there are many promising clues. Will the mystery be solved?
Readers who love to read entirely fictional stories may enjoy Gandhi Jayanti, Banshi Dhar, the Film Critic, Give Me Your Finger, and The Inquisition.
The anecdotes are mostly autobiographical stories but peppered with imaginative liberties the author has taken, and the ‘people’ stories are memoirs of people who have touched the author’s life in some way or the other.
But why is autobiographical matter served as ‘stories’? The author hopes that these stories may offer an interesting ‘read’, and readers may relate to similar stories in their own life. The author has endeavored to minimize the ‘I, Me, Myself’ part, and has focused on those aspects of the story that might have universal appeal and relevance. Readers would, needless to say, form their own opinion about the author’s success or otherwise.
Happy Reading!
